But every once in a while, the gratification doesn’t end there. Sometimes the student gets certified, buys the boat, and then takes the boat on an adventure that every cruising sailor dreams of. That’s the story of Richard L. Little and his small crew that sailed their Oceanis 45 from the shores of Marina del Rey, California, where Richard bought the boat to the islands and atolls of French Polynesia where they lived experiences they will never forget.

After a 27 day crossing to Nuku Hiva, Marquesas, they spent the next two months visiting atolls in the Tuamotus and on to Bora Bora in the Society Islands, ending in Tahiti. Richard left the boat in Tahiti and months later sailed it back to Hawaii.

To see Richard go through this process filled us with pride and really reminded us that this work is not just selling boats; it’s watching people, who become extended family, challenge themselves and persevere and become better for it. As corny as it sounds, we often get a ringside seat and watch people live their dreams... and that’s pretty cool.
